Behind mendsch are people who want to make psychotherapy more accessible.

mend + Mensch + match = mendsch

Our name combines "mend" — to heal, to become whole again — with Mensch (the German word for "person"), and with "match", bringing the right people together. Because psychotherapy isn't just about methods, diagnoses, or search criteria. It's about a collaboration between people.

What we stand for

Why we're building mendsch

Looking for psychotherapy shouldn't fail because technical terms are hard to understand, information is scattered across too many pages, or it's unclear who would actually fit your needs.

That's why we're building mendsch: a platform that helps people find psychotherapists whose expertise, way of working, and practical setup could fit them.

The first step deserves to feel more manageable

Anyone looking for psychotherapeutic support is often already in a difficult situation. And yet the search itself takes real energy: understanding therapy approaches, comparing profiles, making sense of costs, finding open spots, and deciding who to reach out to.

We want to make that first step easier to navigate.

That's why mendsch translates complex information into understandable questions and matches your answers against psychotherapists' profiles in a structured way. The result isn't just a list of hits, but a clear shortlist with understandable reasons behind every suggestion.

The decision always stays with the people themselves.

The founding team

Three perspectives. One shared idea.

mendsch is built by a three-person founding team in Austria. We bring together psychotherapeutic experience, technological development, and business and organisational execution.

What connects us is the conviction that good technology shouldn't come between people. It should make information easier to understand, make possibilities visible, and make the path to personal contact easier.

Lucy Eibel-Rauter

Clinical founder and originator of the idea

Lucy is a psychotherapist in Vienna and knows the challenges of finding therapy as well as the demands of everyday psychotherapeutic work from direct experience. At mendsch, she leads the clinical and market-facing direction and in particular develops the structure of the questionnaire and the matching logic.

Martin leads the software architecture and the day-to-day development of the platform. He brings technology expertise in healthcare as well as experience with artificial intelligence, translating clinical requirements into a secure, understandable and scalable application.

Our approach

What matters to us at mendsch

Clarity

Nobody should need psychotherapeutic expertise just to search for the right support. We want to offer orientation without oversimplifying or putting people into boxes.

A human fit

The right method matters — but it isn't everything. How a therapist communicates, how they'd like to work together, and how it simply feels can be just as decisive for whether a therapeutic relationship can form.

Self-determination and transparency

mendsch doesn't make a diagnosis and doesn't decide who should work with whom. We want people to be able to understand why a profile was suggested. Who someone contacts always stays a personal decision.

Accessibility

Different financial circumstances should be taken into account in the search. That's why we also want to make more affordable options visible, including psychotherapists in training under supervision — their training status is shown transparently.

Responsibility

Psychotherapeutic support is a sensitive area. That's why we build mendsch with particular attention to data protection, responsible use of technical support, and a clear boundary against diagnosis, counselling, and crisis intervention.

Confidentiality

Finding the right support is something personal. That's why mendsch gets you to your result with no registration and no profile required — and we only ever store what's genuinely needed to make the suggestions.

Our vision

Technology that makes personal contact easier

We want a future where people can more easily understand what psychotherapeutic support is available, and find help that could fit them professionally, personally, and practically.

At the same time, we want to give psychotherapists a way to present how they work transparently, and to receive requests from people who've genuinely engaged with what they offer.

That way, a difficult search can become an understandable, personal, and self-determined first step.

The right therapy starts with the right person.

Please note: mendsch supports orientation and shortlisting. The platform does not replace a clinical diagnosis, psychotherapeutic counselling, or the first personal conversation. mendsch is not a crisis or emergency service.
